![]() You’d like to slow down your inventory turnover a little bit. You are moving your items so fast, you can’t keep up. Now, let’s assume that you have the opposite problem-your inventory ratio is too high. Reduce the amount of inventory on hand: Instead of maintaining an average inventory balance of $4,000, you can reduce that to $2,000-meaning you’d have less inventory to turnover at any given time. Step up your marketing: By focusing more on marketing the products you do have, you can increase demand for your items and thus sell more faster.ĭecrease your cost of production: If Lauren can score a better deal on the materials needed to produce your products, you can reduce the amount you’re investing in your inventory. Here are a few things you can do to increase your inventory turnover:Lower your prices: Decreasing the price of your products (even for a limited time promotion) could help you move more product much quicker. The best inventory ratio is the one that keeps your business as profitable as possible. However, if your products are turning over so fast that you feel like you can’t keep up (and are possibly even leaving orders unfulfilled), you might need to make some adjustments to decrease your turnover ratio. It means you’re fulfilling a demand and efficiently moving your products without having them sit on the shelf for months on end. A large business that does millions of dollars in sales will naturally have a much higher number than a one-person operation.īut, generally, a higher inventory ratio is better. It all depends on your individual business and the sorts of products you sell. What is considered a strong inventory turnover ratio? Is there a benchmark number that you should be aiming for? What is considered a “good” inventory turnover ratio? It’s often smart to run both of these formulas to get a clearer idea of how efficiently you’re running your business. The second is more accurate, but it requires a few more details to calculate. The first is easy to calculate and gives an overall picture, but it doesn’t account for markup or seasonal cycles. So, which one should you use? Both of these equations have their pros and cons. “But, wait!” you’re thinking now, “That’s way different than the number the first formula gave me!” That’s true-these methods will spit out different results. This indicates that you are turning over your inventory nearly six times each year. Using this method, you would divide your cost of goods sold by your average inventory balance. In doing so, you will discover that your average product is on the shelf for less than one day.Ĭost of Goods Sold ÷ Your Average Inventory To figure out how many days you have inventory on hand, you just need to divide that number by 365. This means you turn over your entire amount of inventory a little over 17 times each year. There are actually two different ways to calculate your inventory turnover:ĭuring the year, let’s say you do about $70,000 in sales, and your average inventory balance is around $4,000. It uses numbers you should already have in your balance sheets and financial reports. Inventory turnover might sound complex, but the math behind it is really quite simple. It could also indicate that your products are priced low-maybe too low. Too high of turnover rate, and you run the risk of running out of product. ![]() ![]() However, there are some challenges here as well. If your inventory turnover is high? For the most part, that’s good news! Your goods are in demand and you’re moving product efficiently. Business owners who discover that their turnover needs some improvement might need to make some tweaks to their approach, such as lowering prices or changing products. If your inventory turnover is low, that usually means your sales are on the weaker side-products are sitting around for quite some time before actually being sold. This number is helpful not only for better managing your products and supply levels, but also for getting a general feel for how your business is performing Inventory turnover is the percentage of your inventory that you sell during a specified period of time. The end of each memory also has a brief animation revealing some storyline, and I honestly have nothing complimentary to say about them. So I want to answer the question: What’s the best email app for the Mac? Apple MailĪpple will always be at a disadvantage in some ways when building apps because they have to develop for the masses. ![]() So if you are reading this article and are screaming about how much better Gmail’s web interface is – know that I am not looking at web-based solutions. I want one app to use instead of four web apps. ![]() Like I said earlier, I am pulling in iCloud and multiple Google Workspace email accounts into one app, so using webmail isn’t something I want to do. When it comes to my “heavy lifting” type of work, I can get it done much faster on my Mac. On the desktop, we’re moving everything to the web.Īs much as I love iOS, If you told me that I had to pick between the Mac and iOS, I’d choose the Mac. I think a lot of it has to do with iOS, where native apps are the default. I am bringing in multiple accounts into one app (personal iCloud and multiple Google Workspace accounts), but another aspect is that I prefer native apps. In the early days of email usage, I preferred using web-based mail, but as time went on, I preferred app-based email. One of the things about my use of email that is most surprising is that I’ve gone in the reverse direction compared to how technology has moved. Over the years, managing multiple Google accounts has become cumbersome. It’s a much smoother solution than running multiple tabs. It’s a native macOS app for Gmail, and it supports G-Suite as well. If you have a few Gmail accounts, and are happy with the Gmail web interface, check out Boxy. I stuck with it during the disaster that was MobileMe and finally arrived at iCloud.īefore I look at the various email apps for Mac, I want to mention one other app that might appeal to Google Workspace and Gmail users. I switched to Gmail in 2004 when it first launched, and I finally switched to Mac in 2005 when I got my first Mac (a Powerbook G4). I switched to Mailblocks around 2002 (it was eventually acquired by AOL). I stuck with AOL until I got an account when my parents first got high-speed Internet. I got my first email account in the mid–90s (When it was still $2.95 per hour for AOL). So what’s the best email app for the Mac? Even with the popularity of web-based services like Gmail, many still prefer a desktop app to pull in multiple email addresses, use desktop plugins, and have a more native Mac experience. Signing up for almost any service on the Internet requires an email address, so it’s a universal digital identifier. Signing into iCloud (and email) is one of my first tasks when setting up a new Mac. ![]() Third party compatible apps for such old devices are few and far between, now, in 2021.Despite all the new messaging services, project management tools, and chat-based ecosystems, email remains essential. There are, virtually, NO MORE third party apps available from the iOS App Store, any longer! Third party app developers abandoned and stopped supporting these 8-10-year old iOS devices nearly 3 years, ago, in 2018. If you own an 8-10 year old OR older iOS devices, Apple ended support for all 8-10-year old iOS devices well over 4 years, ago, in 2016. These newer iOS/iPadOS devices must use your same Apple ID user account and password as the older device you ard trying to get an older app for.įailing that OR IF NO joy, then there is nothing more to be done. ![]() Then go back to your older iPad, open the iOS App Store, go to the Purchases section of the store app, search for the app/s you wish to try and download to that older iPad and see if an older version of the app is allowed to be downloaded/installed to that older iPad. If you own much newer iOS device that can run either iOS 12 and.or iOS/iPadOS 13 and later, you can install the most recent app/s onto that more recent iOS device. ![]() Web browsers have a security policy called cross-origin resource sharing (CORS) that determines whether the webpage can request files that come from a different origin (i.e. Cross-origin requests (CORS) and safe mode ¶ Note that, unless noted, here we're using the word "server" to mean either a local server (which runs on your computer and only makes the experiment files available from within that computer, and is often used during development), or a remote server (which does not run on your computer and does share your experiment files over the internet). There are some important differences between the way the experiment runs offline compared to online via a web server. It's usually the fastest and easiest way to run through an experiment, and is very useful while writing and testing the code.Īt some point you will need to move your experiment files onto a server and send the data to a database, since this is how you will ultimately collect the data (unless you're planning to collect data on your local computer). ![]() You can run your jsPsych experiment offline by opening the HTML file directly in a web browser, for instance by double-clicking on it. Hosting the Experiment and Saving the DataĮxclude Participants Based on Browser Features Demo Experiment: Simple Reaction Time Taskĭata Storage, Aggregation, and ManipulationĬross-origin requests (CORS) and safe mode You'll still have to stay on your toes though. There's a slightly more forgiving story mode that starts you with a larger inventory, and lets you make more noise before the creature comes to attack. Your objective is always to find dynamite and a plunger to blast your way out of there, and you always come back to your safe room to fill up the generator, save, and play inventory Tetris. The Bunker is sort of a very focused Metroidvania in that you do not progress linearly to new areas, but instead gradually open up deeper and deeper areas of the bunker. You can find flares and grenades, med packs, and a critical resource is petrol, which you use to power a generator in a central area that becomes your mission hub. You start with a pistol, later scrounging up a shotgun - though bullets are few. ![]() Unlike before you have a few more tools at your disposal than running and hiding. Like before, it can pop up basically anywhere by using tunnels in the walls (placed in almost every room, just to give you the extra heebie jeebies), and like before you have to be aware of how much light there is around you because the creature has an aversion to it. This is when you take over, and discover that basically everyone else is dead at the hands - rather, the weird giant claws - of the unkillable beast that now lives in the bunker with you. The amnesia requirement is fulfilled by Henri waking up in a field hospital bed and not remembering any of what happened between the nearly-dying and the now. You play a soldier called Henri who is extremely nearly exploded in some trench warfare, landing him in the aforementioned extremely beige undergound complex. And what a bottle episode! You'll spend 4-6 hours being chased around the tunnels of a maze-like bunker, winding up a dim, rubbish torch and reading increasingly unhinged diary notes from the French soldiers who've all been eaten, and boy will you have a great time. Although, I suppose it actually is, because Rebirth is set in 1937, and Amnesia: The Bunker is effectively a bottle episode taking place during the First World War. Note that in scientific notation, E+n means 10 to the power of n so, 3.402823466E+38 is the same as 3.402823466E × 10 38. Keep in mind that FLOAT cannot be used to store monetary data! Instead, it is good for storing scientific data, such as measurement results:įLOAT needs 4 bytes of storage. FLOAT provides only approximate values because it stores numbers in the binary format (it uses base 2 instead of base 10), and many decimal fractions cannot be expressed precisely using binary fractions.Īlthough this saves storage, it comes at the cost of precision. However, it differs from DECIMAL in that it is not exact. Approximate Numeric Data Types in MySQL FLOATįLOAT is another MySQL data type used for storing numbers. In our example above, for DECIMAL(4,2), we have 2 digits for the integer part and 2 digits for the fractional part, requiring 1 + 1 = 2 bytes according to the table. The storage requirements for the remaining digits are given in the following table: Remaining digits The digits are divided into sets of 9, and each set requires 4 bytes. The amount of space needed by DECIMAL values depends on the number of digits stored and is calculated separately for integer and fractional parts. That is, price DECIMAL is equivalent to price DECIMAL(10,0). The default value for precision in MySQL is 10. You can also use DECIMAL with no arguments. That is, price DECIMAL(4) is equivalent to price DECIMAL(4,0). Its default value is 0, which means fractions are not stored. In the above example, the minimum value for column price is - 99.99, and the maximum is 99.99. Let’s create a table book with a price column: The scale is the maximum number of digits stored after the decimal point. The precision is the total number of significant digits stored. When defining a DECIMAL column, you can provide two arguments: precision and scale. Monetary calculations must be precise it is not acceptable to use approximations ( read more about it on Vertabelo blog). Use DECIMAL when working with financial data, as it offers decimal precision. In MySQL, NUMERIC is treated as a synonym for DECIMAL. However, unlike INTEGER and SMALLINT, it can have fractional parts. The DECIMAL type in MySQL stores the exact numeric data values. However, this also means the range of numbers it can store is smaller. The main difference is that SMALLINT takes up less space – it only needs 2 bytes. SMALLINT in MySQL is very similar to INT. Thus, the maximum value an UNSIGNED INT can store is 4294967295. Id INT UNSIGNED AUTO_INCREMENT PRIMARY KEY,Ī single INTEGER value needs 4 bytes of storage. If you want unsigned integers, simply add the UNSIGNED keyword: An unsigned INT does not accept negative values. INTEGER values in MySQL can be signed or unsigned. AUTO_INCREMENT is a sequence that starts at 1 by default and is increased by 1 with each inserted record. When you insert NULL into the INT AUTO_INCREMENT column or omit its value completely (as we did in the example above), it is set automatically. Wait, we didn’t provide the id! That’s where AUTO_INCREMENT does its magic. Its data type is INT, and it uses the AUTO_INCREMENT attribute. This creates a table book with two columns: id and title. INTEGER in MySQL also has a handy feature, the AUTO_INCREMENT attribute. If we use INTEGER to store the primary key, then each row is assigned a different number. A primary key is a column or a set of columns that is different for each entry in the table and therefore can be used to identify a specific row. The INTEGER data type is also a good candidate for the primary key. ![]() For example, it can be used to store the number of students in a class or the number of T-shirts sold by a store. We use INTEGER when we know the data in the column must always be a whole number. ![]() These numbers can be positive or negative, but they cannot have a fractional part. The INTEGER (or INT used interchangeably) data type in MySQL stores whole numbers. Exact Numeric Data Types in MySQL INTEGER (INT) For example, we use numeric data types to store the number of items purchased by a customer in an order, the price of an item, or the temperature values.Ī numeric data type may be exact or approximate. This means we can perform arithmetic operations on them. The numeric data types are for storing numbers. Let’s get started! Numeric Data Types in MySQL |
